The start of fall activities has snuck up upon us once again! If you're looking for a dance home for your child- no need to panic! There is still plenty of time to register (and make it to the first practice!) this year! Our friends at The Dance Effect in Spring City offer rolling admission, so you can feel free to reach out at any time during the year. However, classes have not yet begun so if you want to get in for the first day of dance, this is your moment! Classes at TDE begin Tuesday, Sept 8th for Academy Dancers (see below).
We've been at TDE family for close to 7 years, so I can tell you from experience there are a few things that set it apart from other local studios:
1). Warm, encouraging & cooperative environment. The first goal is for dancers to have fun and learn to love dance. Phrases like "It's a share, not a compare" and "I can do hard things" are somewhat studio mottos.
2). Flexibility of classes. If your dancer wants to commit for the year- great! If they want to dance competitively, no problem. If they're just thinking about trying dance for the first time- come on in.
- Academy Dance track. Offers weekly classes for ages 3 and up, a Sept-May commitment. Two stage performances. Monthly billing. Great for those who love dance, but are exploring other activities too.
- Competitive Dance Team. Bigger time commitment (dancers will practice 3-4 times a week). Multiple competitions and performances with the team. Two stage performances with the studio. For those who are focused on dance as their chosen sport/activity and looking to hone their skills while having fun with a close knit group.
- Discovery Program. Ages 2 and up. 10 week sessions designed for those who want try dance for the first time or a new dance style without the commitment. Stage performances are available but optional.
3). Affordability. Dance classes are not cheap, but comparatively, TDE is competitively priced. What makes them stand above the rest is the all inclusive pricing. Dancers are given a leotard at sign up and there are no recital or costume fees. You will need to buy your own dance shoes and tights, but they are not required to be brand specific. You pay your tuition, buy shoes and audience tickets to the recital and that's it! No surprise hidden fees or constant extras required.
4). Free Trial Class. Not sure if dance is a good fit? maybe they'd prefer tap to ballet? Call or email the studio and set up a free trial class! You can attend the first week of class as a trial and if you decide to sign up, you've not missed a single class!
The Discovery Program (variety of 10-week classes) has been reimagined this year. If you're on the fence about dance, I'd highly suggest starting on this track to get a sense if it's right for your soon-to-be dancer. Discovery classes don't start until Sept.27th so you have even more time to choose the right class for you!
