Each week we'll take an inside look at a local library (primarily the children's sections). We'll explore the set up, toys offered, local museum passes and specialty items you may want to check out!
This week we stopped by the Phoenixville Public Library! This library is in a historic building & filled with amenities. Of all the libraries I've visited, Phoenixville has the most expansive children's area. When you enter the library, head down the steps- the Children's section is the entire floor. There are obviously books galore- seriously, double the selection of many other libraries. If you can't wait for a title to be shipped to your home library through the online library reserve system, check out Phoenixville. In addition to the selection, the space is designed for kids of all ages. There are kid friendly computers complete with headphones, reserved tables just for kids & their caregivers, beautiful murals to transport you under the sea, a dedicated story time (Community Room) with a door that shuts during programming, coloring area, and a huge train table (with plenty of working parts!). Additionally, there is a cozy seating area separate from the main space perfect for younger kids or calming babies. Another bonus is that directly across the street you'll find Reeves Park. On nice days, you can make a day out of it, visiting the library and playground without loading up the car twice! The one drawback of this library really cannot be helped and it is parking. There is no parking lot, so if driving, you must find a space on the street. Depending on the time of day/popularity of programming this can be a challenge because it is conveniently located next to the park & other popular businesses and there are a few one way streets to navigate in the area. If you're planning a trip just give yourself a few extra minutes to find parking.
