Phoenixville is set to celebrate the end of the year with it's annual Firebird Festival and you don't want to miss it. The evening will be filled with art, music, community and a giant flaming bird- what's not to love? The legend of the phoenix- the fiery, immortal bird who continues to rise from the ashes of it's flames is an iconic myth symbolizing rebirth, renewal and eternity. It is also the namesake of the Borough of Phoenixville, so it only makes sense to erect a giant wooden bird each year and set it ablaze, right? Absolutely. Let's throw in music, performances and a chance for attendees to toss any regrets they have from this past year into the fire and you have yourself an end of the year celebration everyone will be talking about. This year's event is set for Saturday, December 13th.
The Firebird Festival is a family-friendly event organized by a dedicated group of volunteers who have been bringing the Phoenix to life since 2004 as a way to showcase local art and artists. Each year, volunteers spend about three weeks constructing the bird- it's truly magnificent (not to mention, enormous!). At the festival you'll find plenty of art, vendors, crafters, performances, and live music. The event is 100% F-R-E-E to attend down to the shuttles provided to bring everyone to Reservoir Park! Here is a schedule of events; note, there are overlapping events for a portion of the evening. The "Festival Site" is Reservoir Park, but there are plenty of activities happening prior at Studio 323 on Bridge Street you may want to check out before joining the procession over to the field.
